SCRABBLE Premium for iPad App Reviews

My wife and I really enjoy playing this game together and we both enjoy the simple, straightforward interface and classic gameplay look and feel. Nothing complicated, no need for in-game purchases, no bothersome relentless over-socializing - just pure relaxing fun between just the two of us, me from the comfort of my recliner and her from the comfort of her couch. Great fun for a couple of surly old curmudgeons.

Monumental hassle trying to create an Origin account and adding friends. Origin is a joke. Simply cant send friend requests sometimes, and when it does work, the friend cant see the request. I wanted to play this with my daughter. And now that I finally got our accounts set up and friended... the stupid Scrabble app REQUIRES YOU TO LOG INTO ORIGIN EVERY TIME YOU OPEN THE APP. Every single time. Ridiculous.

Too many bells and whistles and time-wasting animation, not enough Scrabble. Reducing to one star because it now has a new problem: when playing against the computer, the human player invariably goes first. The poor computer opponent is pathetic enough without that additional handicap.

Great fun when you need to kill some time. App works well with no noticeable glitches. No ads!

Would you please update my scrabble NOW! Being ver Patient ... Much appreciated for doing what you can. Get it RIGHT Please, thanks!

February 2018- Dropped to one star since I had to delete and reload the game twice in a month. It is the only app that has this trouble. September 2017- rev. A Moved to four stars. Notifications seem to work now (although they did not seem to work when I first updated.) Game seems stable. Load time are better. Still cannot see move list after a game has ended. This is why I cannot give five stars. September 2017 The latest version seems more stable, load times have not been as bad. But it is too early to tell for sure. Notifications seem to be working now. I will give this latest version a few more weeks, if I do not have to reload and it does not hang when loading I may bump my review up a few stars. May 2017 Still broken. Still needs constant reloading from the app store. Still no notifications. Clunky interface. Slow to load. Latest update April2017 Notifications are still broken. Still have to delete and re-install weekly. Each update breaks MORE things. This game worked much better a year ago. Wish I could give zero or negative stars. Latest update Feb2017 Notifications have stopped working. Once a game has completed I can no longer see the moves list or read the chat log. Still have to re-install occasionally, and still taking way too long to load and connect. The amount of data that needs to be exchanged between the server and the app is trivial. WHY is this app so slow? Review down to one star, since the latest updates broke more things than they fixed. Latest update Nov2016 Game hangs waiting for updates. I have to delete it and reinstall every couple of weeks. Latest update 1May2016: The program is still a resource pig, I have to shut all other apps on my iPad to get it to load. It still takes a long time to load... odd since this is a dedicated app with local storage. It would be nice to be able to see the moves list after the game ends. The moves list become inaccessible as soon as someone goes out. Update on the latest version. The network is much better now, I have increased my rating by one star. The app seems to be a pig, I have to close most other apps on my ipad to get it to load. I do not like the new trash talking notifications, a simple "such and such has played" would do. The screen seems cluttered, and I do not like the board sliding back and forth. I wish they would quit changing the fonts, they are not bad, but they are no better. I find the constant tweaking annoying. ---- This is an update to my old review. The network issues are getting bad so I have removed 3 stars. The app takes a long time to "update" nearly every time I open it. It often will not connect with Facebook to retrieve current games without multiple tries. Lastly, the app crashes instantly on my iPad Air unless I have nearly every other app is closed. Scrabble is not a complicated game to run on a computer and the amount of server data is minimal. What the heck is this app doing? The pop up ads on the paid version are gone for now, so I have added several more stars to my rating. There are several minor issues that still need work. I was unable to play with friends outside the USA last time I tried. The licensing folks need to work some sort of deal to allow this. Notifications and player status do not always automatically update for some reason. I do not understand the "muting" of the chat feature, this is lawyer stuff I am sure, but I told the app my age so the mute should not be on be default. The dev team seems to break as much stuff as they fix, the design team seems to improve about as much stuff as they ruin. But after years, they finally have a fairly well polished app. I will give it five stars in hopes that they leave it alone! ------ The app itself is quite good. I like the teach mode, computer game play is good, I like the ability to select dictionaries and I love playing with friends, family, and even random opponents. I wish it had the ability to bluff, but I understand the difficulty of implementing such a feature. The reason for the low rating is the pop up ads that started with the last update. I bought the paid version to avoid the pop up ads. I feel cheated. I would also add that it has recently been unavailable for two weeks.

I get notification that my friend has made a move and it’s my turn. Find what I think might work but like to check the dictionary first. All good. Return to the board. Start to hit play and IT STARTS OVER as if I weren’t there 15 seconds ago and am still actively in the game! Why put my tiles back on the rack? I didn’t exit the game! Sheesh! I love playing scrabble online. Just don’t make it annoying, please.

In a recent update it gives you the option to see the other players last word. Uncheck this in settings and it resolves the problem with words disappearing when you check the dictionary.

I don’t know what has happened to a great game. Update this thing and get it working right I used to play this game by the hour with my friend. We are unable to connect together. Going to Words. To bad scrabble I liked you better

Was 5 stars. Now every time you look at the dictionary it takes the last word the other person plays off the board and then puts it back on. At the same time it takes your word you are looking up completely off the board so you have to completely replace it every single time you look at the Dictionary. This was a Expensive paid app for a game I love. NOT WORTH buying a paid version until this issue is resolved...

I ADORE playing Scrabble but it is no fun when the board has frozen in the middle of the game.

My only complaint is that if I delete the app and reinstall it, I end up losing my player statistics (wins, loses, draws, best word, etc...). This never happened with my Android devices. Just Apple. I’d be nice if EA changed this.

Update: after a few days of being locked out (and thus losing all my in progress games) I was suddenly able to play online again. Until last night. The latest update seems to have knocked me out again. This is very frustrating! *********** After playing this game for 3 years, the latest version was working for a couple of days before giving me a ‘cannot connect to server’ message. I tried clearing the cache, deleting and reloading the app, pretty much everything. My opponents are forcing forfeit on me and I can’t access the game to play! Disastrous. And the EA help feature doesn’t seem to yield any assistance on the issue. It’s really a shame - in spite of occasional glitches I’d enjoyed playing it over the years.

Sure the interface is a little clunky, but it gets the job done… sort of. Theres lots of room for improvement - especially with multiplayer. For me, the most obvious feature lacking is a way to do local multiplayer with multiple devices. Pass n Play doesnt cut it on an iPad when you and your opponent are sitting close together (think of sitting next to each other on an airplane). Internet-based multiplayer options also arent enough (again, think of being on an airplane or other places without wifi/cell service). Better yet, why not allow one device to serve as a "host board" and other devices as "tile racks" for each player?

I just purchased this game because I love to play scrabble. I wanted the no ads version and am very happy with it. Still learning my way around the board and where everything is. One thing I notice is missing and that is the box that tells you how many tiles are left in the game.. My friends and I have been playing Words with Friends 2. It has that feature but the ads are horrific to deal with. You would make this game complete if you added that feature to this paid version. 5 stars with the tiles left box. One more question. Can this app be installed on an iPhone? Thamks

Multiplayer has been removed, had 4, 4 player games that were killed and cannot play more than 2 player games. Congratulations EA you have crippled the game, which should now be called SCR ( partial scrabble)

This is the message which now appears on my screen while the game is locked. I have been playing scrabble for years and have loved it, despite the minor bugs which occasionally occur. Now, the game cannot be played at all and I guess I will have to uninstall and reinstall a new were version and lose my rating, all my games, and my money. Talked to EA tech-support today two different times while describing the problem to them, was put on hold, and after about 10 minutes each time was hung up on.

I really hate the fact that after a few days, Scabble logs my user out forcing me to log back in. Unacceptable. Ive gotten a refund.

I turned “Best Word”off but it keeps popping up anyway. I find it quite annoying. Hopefully this glitch will be corrected. Otherwise the game seems to work okay.
