SCRABBLE Premium for iPad App Reviews

Its beyond frustrating that a utterly crappy game like Words With Friends seems to have so much better software engineers. What cant EA just dedicate the resources to finally fix whatever the hell keeps breaking in this app, when its obvious that Zynga can do it.

The latest bug I found happens when playing the CPU. If it is your turn and you are checking the spelling of a word using the dictionary, after you are done and return to the board the CPU takes your turn. This gives the CPU 2 turns in a row. Several times it has taken 3 in a row (its correct turn, your turn, and its turn again).

Just loaded new May 18 update and still crashes after a series of play. Have to delete and reinstall. Your Tech people are terrible. Dont buy this game consumers!! cant you guys get it together? Dictionary is ridiculous.

May 2017 Still broken. Still needs constant reloading from the app store. Still no notification. Clunky interface. Slow to load. Latest update April2017 Notifications are still broken. Still have to delete and re-install weekly. Each update breaks MORE things. This game worked much better a year ago. Wish I could give zero or negative stars. Latest update Feb2017 Notifications have stopped working. Once a game has completed I can no longer see the moves list or read the chat log. Still have to re-install occasionally, and still taking way too long to load and connect. The amount of data that needs to be exchanged between the server and the app is trivial. WHY is this app so slow? Review down to one star, since the latest updates broke more things than they fixed. Latest update Nov2016 Game hangs waiting for updates. I have to delete it and reinstall every couple of weeks. Latest update 1May2016: The program is still a resource pig, I have to shut all other apps on my iPad to get it to load. It still takes a long time to load... odd since this is a dedicated app with local storage. It would be nice to be able to see the moves list after the game ends. The moves list become inaccessible as soon as someone goes out. Update on the latest version. The network is much better now, I have increased my rating by one star. The app seems to be a pig, I have to close most other apps on my ipad to get it to load. I do not like the new trash talking notifications, a simple "such and such has played" would do. The screen seems cluttered, and I do not like the board sliding back and forth. I wish they would quit changing the fonts, they are not bad, but they are no better. I find the constant tweaking annoying. ---- This is an update to my old review. The network issues are getting bad so I have removed 3 stars. The app takes a long time to "update" nearly every time I open it. It often will not connect with Facebook to retrieve current games without multiple tries. Lastly, the app crashes instantly on my iPad Air unless I have nearly every other app is closed. Scrabble is not a complicated game to run on a computer and the amount of server data is minimal. What the heck is this app doing? The pop up ads on the paid version are gone for now, so I have added several more stars to my rating. There are several minor issues that still need work. I was unable to play with friends outside the USA last time I tried. The licensing folks need to work some sort of deal to allow this. Notifications and player status do not always automatically update for some reason. I do not understand the "muting" of the chat feature, this is lawyer stuff I am sure, but I told the app my age so the mute should not be on be default. The dev team seems to break as much stuff as they fix, the design team seems to improve about as much stuff as they ruin. But after years, they finally have a fairly well polished app. I will give it five stars in hopes that they leave it alone! ------ The app itself is quite good. I like the teach mode, computer game play is good, I like the ability to select dictionaries and I love playing with friends, family, and even random opponents. I wish it had the ability to bluff, but I understand the difficulty of implementing such a feature. The reason for the low rating is the pop up ads that started with the last update. I bought the paid version to avoid the pop up ads. I feel cheated. I would also add that it has recently been unavailable for two weeks.

This app is replete with operational hassles but Scrabble is always fun.

May 18, 2017 Do not upgrade, folks! Every time you look up a word in the dictionary, it re-does the annoying animation fromnthe computers last move. --- Many words that are doubtful, counyry-inappropriate, unheard of and/or unable to be found. I could grudgingly live with that. Im appalled at the two letter words that are now considered to be on the approved list yet are not shown on the list. Simple programming for this, no? Yes, EA, it is very, very easy for you to do.

Fingers crossed that this update will fix the connectivity issues Ive experienced for the last two months...... If it works, I will re-rate it back to 5 stars!

The most recent update said it was released to fix connectivity issues which some users were having. I have had many issues with this app for awhile now, but connecting wasnt one...until they "fixed" that bug. The app no longer connects to Facebook (worked fine prior to this update), thus, my games no longer load. Great fix, EA! Now the app doesnt work at all! (Would also really appreciate if game notifications worked again. Theyre on...but no pop-ups ever show up to tell me if its my turn. That broke ages ago. Two updates ago, if I opened the app, red pop-ups would eventually show up on the app icon for any games where it was my turn. The second-to-last update broke that altogether.) Hope they actually read, and act on, reviews. Its a waste of time to submit support tickets because they dont read them. Even for those of us who mistakenly thought paying for the Scrabble app would result in a better working app and tech support. Dont waste your money on this one.

May 18, 2017, the last update sent by EA havent correct the connectivity issue with older iPad version, model ME277C/A with iOS version 10.3.2 (14F89). Impossible to connect with Facebook as before this new update

There are far too many loading glitches and delays. Also, some of the so-called "dictionary" choices are ridiculous: it will refuse perfectly good ordinary words like "unshoveled" and "reshelved" while allowing such meaningless barbarities as "upstares" and "outstroll." May 18: seems to be loading better lately.

Constantly having to delete app and renew because of glitches

Looks like a year has passed and I still can Not make a 3-4 person game.......Please respond ! With the latest update there is no option for 3 or 4 players, would you please remedy.? Great Game! Xxxxx I like the old look better, just sayin April 6th, 2013, still like the old look. I miss the words we played, showing...you can hardly tell if you have a message. The message , once seen, stays there ...blinking, FOR THE WHOLE game !, please. The look is like words with friends, I am not a fan of words with friends...this looks like plastic ! Give me something Rich looking, like the old board. June 5th, 2013... Messages dont turn off...my above holds true still.

I am a huge scrabble fan , it is hands down my favorite game. Unfortunately this app does lock up a lot. The tiles wont load of games wont load , and the only way to fix it is to uninstall and reinstall . Game play is also a little glitchy as of late. I would gladly give another review if these problems are fixed.

I have to unload and reload the app to connect and play a session. This is too long to wait for you to correct a connection issue. I can understand an issue but to not get it fixed, is unexceptable.

The notification system worked great for about eight months, then went belly up again and hasnt worked for over a year again.

Every other day Origin wont let me sign in. The only cure is to delete Scrabble and reload it. Im using the latest version for IPad.

I enjoy the game but hate all the extras. I would like to play without waiting for things that pop up. I am not conceited enough to send an email when I get a bingo. I dont like waiting on that plus the teacher should be eliminated. I turned it off. When you have a high count tile you should save it to get a high score but the teacher tells you to play it. Several other time I have used the best play just to see what else I could do an d quite a few times the play that I had planned scored more than what it told me. When I sign in I hate the stupid letters that tell me who I am.

Why are we no longer able to play games with more than two people?

I have contacted EA and Origin and there is no way to actually find and play with people you know. Waste of $$ unless you want to play by yourself or with random strangers.
